Injury looks set to keep Andy Murray out for the remainder of the tennis season, but the world No.2 has confirmed he will join top-ranked Rafael Nadal at January's Brisbane International.
Announcing plans to play at the Australian Open warm-up event for the next three years, Murray will be on the comeback from a hip injury that had cruelled his Wimbledon hopes and ruled him out of the US Open.
The Scot won the Brisbane tournament in 2012 and 2013.
"I need to take some time to rest my body and I look forward to playing the Brisbane International in January," Murray said.
"Starting the year in Australia sets you up in the best possible way for a strong season and I'm excited to start my next three there.
