Music to preserve Tiwi language and culture

A group of Tiwi Island women say music is helping to preserve local language and culture for future generations.

A group of Tiwi Island women say music is helping to preserve local language and culture for future generations.

The Strong Kid's Song Project is run by the Wangatunga Strong Women's Group, known for their knowledge of traditional songs and stories.

Supported by the Australian Red Cross, the Strong Women have been writing and teaching songs with local children north of Darwin.

Chairwoman of the Group, Teresita told Hannah Sinclair about the project.
