Muslim school closure on the cards

A community meeting is being held in Sydney tonight surrounding the possible closure of Australia's largest Muslim school.

The New South Wales Board of Studies has recommended Malek Fahd Islamic School's registration not be renewed next year due to concerns about its curriculum and attendance.

The board will meet again next month to decide if the school will remain open.

The school’s principal Dr Ray Barrett told SBS the school was not closing.

"There is a process that we are going through. We can’t speed it up…but this is the democratic process, we’ve ticked all the boxes," he said.
