Myer has appointed a former Coles manager to be its dedicated digital officer as it strives to capitalise on the online shopping trend.

Former Coles online general manager Mark Cripsey will join the department store chain in the newly-created role of chief digital and data officer.

"Mark's experience in technology-driven retail transformation, and his direct experience in e-commerce and multi-channel logistics will be important in helping to successfully deliver our strategy," Myer's chief executive Richard Umbers said.
