Myer is dumping 100 brands to make way for new ones, including Calvin Klein White Label.
The department store chain declined to name which labels it will be dropping but said the cull was happening across women's and men's apparel, children's wear, homewares and footwear.
It has also announced a surprised spring clearance sale to clear the decks for new brands, including Jack & Jones, Aje, Daniel Avakian, Oscar de la Renta, and Zadig et Voltaire.
This follows Tuesday's news that the retailer will reduce its permanent staff numbers for more casuals in a move Myer says will give it flexibility to put more staff on during the busy periods.
A Myer spokesman told AAP there's been a focus on delivering better customer service and bringing new and exciting brands to the shop floor.
Myer has been struggling with declining sales and is in the middle of a major overhaul to turn around the business which includes closing some stores.
Myer closed its department store at Sydney's Top Ryde City shopping centre on Saturday and will close three speciality stores in Melbourne next month.
Archrival David Jones announced last month that it is shedding about 180 brands from its 2500 brands across fashion, beauty and homewares.
A David Jones spokeswoman said DJs was constantly reviewing and refreshing its brands in line with customer research.
