Gold Coast NRL captain Nate Myles believes he's privileged to be able to turn his wife's cancer battle into something good.
The Titans' skipper remains in awe of actor wife Tessa following her treatment and recovery from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Her battle and the struggles of others he's met over the past 18 months have inspired the Queensland and Australian representative to support a Legs Out for Lymphoma awareness event this weekend on the Gold Coast.
The event is in memory of Hamish O'Brien, a young boy Myles came to know, but who died earlier this year just after his first birthday following a six-month fight with the illness.
Myles and Titans teammates James Roberts and David Mead will all wear special green shoelaces at Sunday's home NRL fixture against Canberra to promote Lymphoma awareness.
He says using his profile to help fight one of the most common cancers in the community is the least he can do.
"I am not the most noble person when it comes to all this stuff," Myles said.
"But definitely, I feel I'm in a position to help others and I sort of wish it didn't have to be through the situation it has been for myself and Tess but there's a positive that can come from everything and this is definitely it."
Myles will return to action against the Raiders after three weeks on the sidelines with an injured shoulder.
With just three games left in Titans colours before he joins Manly for the 2016 season, Myles is pushing for a big finish as Gold Coast try to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder.
"We have the ability to play some really dynamic football," he said.
"We just need to be confident in what we're doing and do it to 100 per cent."
