North Queensland NRL playmaker Te Maire Martin will be sidelined indefinitely after scans revealed he has a small bleed on the brain.
The 23-year-old was ruled out of Friday's clash with the Gold Coast after he had reported what coach Paul Green described on Tuesday as severe headaches.
Green said club staff had been scouring match and training footage in an attempt to identify what caused the injury.
"Club medical staff are continuing to investigate the cause of the bleeding, although it is not yet clear whether it is football related," a club statement read.
"Martin continues to rest at home and is scheduled to meet with a Townsville-based specialist later this week."
Martin's New Zealand compatriot Jordan Kahu will shift back to fullback to cover his absence while centre Tom Opacic has been promoted from the Queensland Cup for the game against the Titans.
