Mystery surrounds Qld highway shooting

A woman who says she was shot at while driving along the Bruce Highway in central Queensland is being interviewed by police, along with a man.

Police are interviewing a woman who claims she was chased and shot at on the Bruce Highway in central Queensland.

They are also interviewing a man over the allegations, but what link he might have to the incident has not been revealed.

The woman phoned police about 3.30am (AEST), saying she was driving north, from Gladstone towards Rockhampton, when a white Holden Cruze began pursuing her.

She told officers someone in the car had a gun and opened fire on her vehicle. A triple-zero operator kept the woman on the line until she said she had pulled up outside the Rockhampton police station.

But when police went outside to look for the woman, she wasn't there.

Police later found the woman in her car at Mount Archer, in north Rockhampton. The vehicle is now considered a crime scene.

Police said a vehicle seen in a car park beside the Fitzroy River and initially believed to be the woman's was not related to the incident.
