Taqele Naiyaravoro made one last pitch for inclusion in Australia's World Cup squad by scoring three tries for a World XV in their 45-20 win over Japan in Tokyo on Saturday.
The bullocking Waratahs winger is regarded as an outside chance of being named by coach Michael Cheika next Friday in the Wallabies' final 31-man touring party for the tournament in England and Wales starting in just over a month.
Nonetheless, Naiyaravoro did his chances no harm at Prince Chichibu Memorial Ground in the Japanese capital.
Not long after the Wallabies were pummelled by New Zealand in Auckland, he scored tries in the 21st, 60th and 70th minutes, and also played a big part in ex-All Blacks halfback Andy Ellis' two second-half five-pointers that lifted the World XV to an emphatic win.
The World XV's 23-man team included 14 Australians and had at the helm former Wallabies coach Robbie Deans, who is now boss at the Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan's Top League.
Berrick Barnes kicked four penalties and three conversions while replacement Mike Harris added a second-half conversion.
Queensland flanker Liam Gill also had a strong game, his breakdown steal leading to Naiyaravoro's final try.
For Japan, Karne Hesketh struck early for a try and a penalty try was awarded in the second half when Kiwi lock Ali Williams infringed as Japan were driving towards the tryline.
Ayamu Gomaru added a conversion and two penalties, and Harumichi Tatekawa one conversion.
The Eddie Jones-coached Japan are in the same pool as South Africa, Samoa, Scotland and the United States at the World Cup.
