NASA releases largest-ever image of Andromeda Galaxy

NASA has this month released a stunning photograph - the largest-ever with 1.5 billion pixels - of the Andromeda Galaxy.

NASA has released the largest-ever image of the Andromeda Galaxy.

The image captures only a tiny portion of space but still shows more than 100 million stars.

The ABC reports that a team of researchers from the University of Washington, led by Professor Julianne Dalcanton, was behind the image.

The video below explores its stunning detail, as captured by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.
