Federal Nationals leader Warren Truss will seek to recontest his Queensland seat at the next election.

The deputy prime minister confirmed his decision after a partyroom meeting in the central Queensland city of Rockhampton on Thursday.

"I will be submitting my nomination for the seat of Wide Bay before those nominations close on August 14," Mr Truss told reporters.
