Nauru MP taken off flight to Australia

A member of parliament in Nauru has been taken off a flight to Australia and had his passport confiscated.

A Nauruan opposition MP has been taken off an Australia-bound aircraft and had his passport cancelled.

The action against Roland Kun, reported by the ABC on Wednesday, came amid anti-government protests outside the tiny island nation's parliament.

The protesters want the reinstatement of five MPs suspended from the parliament a year ago for making critical comments about the government.
