Naval officer killed in Darwin car crash

A naval officer has been killed in a three-car crash in the Darwin suburb of Woolner.

A naval officer has been killed and another injured in a three-car crash in Darwin.

Defence says the accident occurred on the Stuart Highway in the suburb of Woolner on Thursday afternoon.

The injured officer was transferred to Darwin Hospital and treated for cuts and a shoulder injury, and is in a stable condition.

The navy says it is providing support to both officers' families.

"The navy extends its condolences to the deceased officer's family and to the member's friends and colleagues in the Royal Australian Navy," it said in a statement.

The Northern Territory News reports that two other people were also taken to hospital with minor injuries after the crash.
