Nearly 600,000 votes have already been cast with still more than a week to go to the July 2 election.

Nearly 600,000 Australians have already voted more than a week out from polling day.

In the first six days of pre-poll voting, 597,800 early votes have been lodged.

That's up from the 2013 election, with only 365,509 cast during the same period last campaign.
