Neighbours have described seeing Warriena Wright's body ricochet off balconies after being woken by her terrified screams from the 14th floor of Gable Tostee's Surfers Paradise unit.
Tostee, 30, is on trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to murdering the 26-year-old in the early hours of August 8, 2014.
It is not alleged Tostee threw or pushed Ms Wright but that he intimidated and threatened her to the extent she felt the only way to escape was to climb down the balcony where he'd locked her out.
Gabriele Collyer-Wiedner told the jury she was woken up by a loud banging and a woman's screams of "No" before seeing a pair of legs dangling in the air over her balcony.
Nick Casey, from two floors down, was also watching and shouted "you can't get down this way, go back in" as Ms Wright cried out for help, the court heard.
"It wasn't long after that she fell straight past where I was standing on the balcony, she ricocheted off a few balconies below," Mr Casey said.
Across the road James Evans and Isaac Hardy were waiting for the bus when they said they heard a woman's "terrifying scream".
"A few seconds after that I heard a loud bang," Mr Evans told the court on Tuesday.
Ms Wright's body was found in the driveway by first responders.
She had been on a two-week holiday in Australia for a friend's wedding and had only met Tostee in person for the first time that night after messaging on dating app Tinder.
The trial before Justice John Byrne continues.
