The rescue team of 12 Australians from the Nepalese community, including nurses, left Sydney Airport on Monday night with medicine, water purifiers, masks, blankets and other items that will be used to help those in crisis.

The volunteers are part of an aid group put together by a global Nepalese organisation which will be working in coordination with the Nepalese government.

It’s believed none of the team have previous experience in disaster situations, but all are willing to help out where they can.  Some of the volunteers hope to travel to remote areas outside Kathmandu to assist with relief efforts.
