Australia cannot turn the other cheek and forget missing toddler William Tyrell, child protection advocate Hetty Johnston has told federal parliamentarians.

The Bravehearts founder, who is helping lead the nationwide campaign Where's William, told MPs from all parties William's family is hurting beyond belief.

"This has to resonate with every person in this nation," she said.

Australia could never become a country that turns the other cheek.

"We must never accept this."

Ms Johnston urged parents to give their children an extra cuddle and to never forget William.

Nationals MP David Gillespie, who hosted the event, read a statement from William's parents in which they thanked everyone helping to search for their son.

They urged others to share his image across the country, in the hope someone will know something.

"From the moment we realised William was taken, the grief we felt was indescribable.

"We couldn't understand how the sun could still shine, how could there be laughter in the world while our little boy wasn't with us."

Crimestoppers Australia director Peter Price said no case in his 16 years with the organisation has had more of a personal effect.

"Crimestoppers and the NSW police will continue relentlessly to try and solve this case," he said.

Independent senator Glenn Lazarus, Palmer United Party's Dio Wang, Labor's Stephen Jones and Liberal MP Natasha Griggs were among politicians present at the gathering.
