The Sydney Swans have arguably their two biggest AFL stars under lock and key for several seasons, after gun midfielder Dan Hannebery agreed to a five-year contract extension on Friday.
The Swans thwarted any attempts from Victorian clubs to woo him back to his home state, by securing his services to the end of the 2021 season.
Sydney already has star forward Lance Franklin under contract to the end of the 2022 season after he inked a nine-year deal with the Swans in late 2013.
Hannebery's deal followed just three days after a three-year contract extension for key defender Heath Grundy.
Although widely flagged through the media earlier on Friday, Hannebery's deal was confirmed by the Swans less than two hours before the start of their home game against Richmond, at which they celebrated their 2005 premiership win.
"Dan is clearly a fantastic player, he's in career best form," Sydney Swans chairman Andrew Pridham said at his pre-match function at the SCG.
"Apart from being a premiership winner (in 2012), he was the AFL Rising Star winner (in 2010), an All-Australian (in 2013) and he's a very, very important part of our family.
"We're very very lucky to have him."
The Swans' general manager of football Tom Harley said Hannebery's extended commitment to the club was a great show of faith in their football program.
"We really look forward to Dan being a player who can help drive this group on and off the field in the coming years," Harley said.
Hannebery is in career best form this season, averaging 31 disposals a game throughout the first half of the 2015 season.
