New anti-ice advertising campaign launched

New government-funded television and online ads are aimed at bringing home the impact of ice addiction.

A confronting government advertising campaign to show the impact of ice addiction will hit television screens on Sunday night.

The ads, which will also run online, depict violent behaviour in an emergency room, in the family home and in a regional town.

"We need to get the message to young people and parents that this drug is extremely addictive and destroys lives and families," assistant Health Minister Fiona Nash said in a statement.

The ads are part of the government's campaign to address the ice scourge, which includes establishing a National Ice Taskforce.
