A team of 89 potential sporting stars has been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming Youth Olympics.
The Australian Olympic Committee unveiled the next generation of Olympians on Monday, less than two months before the Youth Olympic Games begin in Nanjing, China, on August 16.
Held every four years for athletes aged between 15 and 18, the event features 28 sports including athletics, diving, tennis, and fencing.
Aussie athletes will compete in 23 of the featured sports, including golf and rugby sevens, which will make its full Olympic debut in Rio 2016.
Nanjing looks to be the perfect opportunity for swimmers like 17-year-old Amy Matsuo to make their presence known and help return Australian swimming to its former glory.
The HSC student won two silver medals and a bronze in freestyle at this year's age championships in Brisbane.
The rising star's progress in the pool has even caught the eye of other countries.
Following Matsuo's silver medal at the 2013 World Championships, her parents' native country of Japan approached the Australian-born swimmer with an offer to join its team.
Matsuo turned them down.
Chef de mission Susie O'Neill hopes her team's first taste of the Olympics will boost their drive.
"The next two months is all about each athlete doing the best they can every single session," O'Neill said.
"It is about giving 110 per cent each day."
Some of Australia's Olympians have credited the youth event with helping them improve their ability to train and stay focused.
Before Jessica Fox won silver in canoe/kayak at the London Olympics, she won a gold medal at the inaugural Youth Olympics in Singapore in 2010.
