Police hope new security camera footage could finally unearth a killer who stabbed a woman to death as she walked home through a Sydney park.

Prabha Kumar, 41, was walking home on the night of March 7 and was chatting on the phone to her husband in India when she was stabbed in the neck at Westmead, near Parramatta.

Detectives from a special strike force set up to find the killer have released new footage of a person walking through Parramatta Golf Course, towards Jubilee Lane, on the night of Ms Kumar's murder.

Detective Acting Inspector Ritchie Sim said officers recently discovered the footage as they again canvassed the area around where the killing took place.

So far the figure caught on camera remains unidentified.

"Prahba's death has affected a lot of people, including her family in India. These people need closure and we are reliant on the publics help to allow us to give them that," he said on Friday.

"The person in the footage is one person who we have not been able to identify so far. While it's not the best footage, we are hoping it might prompt someone's memory."

He said investigators were also considering travelling to India, amid community plans to honour the slain woman with a service close to her birthday.

A plaque bearing Ms Kumar's name will be unveiled during the November 22 event.

"We remain in close contact with Prabha's family and we have invited them to attend the memorial event. We will also assist in helping the family to make the trip to Sydney from India," Detective Sim said.
