New coach wants Bombers to have fun

Interim Essendon coach Matthew Egan says his first challenge following James Hird's resignation is to get the Bombers enjoying football.

After another turbulent week in a horror AFL season, interim Essendon coach Matthew Egan just wants the Bombers to start having fun again.

Egan will make his coaching debut on Saturday against Gold Coast and says getting his players to enjoy football will be his number one priority for the remainder of the season.

The former Geelong player says it's too early to tell what impact James Hird's resignation will have on the playing group but he's excited by the challenge that lies ahead.
