New Coke sign to be switched on in Sydney

A new hi-tech Coke sign in Kings Cross will be switched on replacing the old neon one that has been looking over William Street for more than four decades.

A new hi-tech, energy-efficient Coke sign will be switched on in Kings Cross on Thursday night.

It replaces the iconic neon sign that has looked over Sydney's William Street for more than four decades.

The old sign was sold off letter-by-letter for charity on Monday, raising $100,000 for the local Wayside Chapel.

Not only will the new sign use a lot less power, it's also the single largest controllable LED sign in the Southern Hemisphere and can change colour.

The sign will be switched on at 6.30pm.
