New group to fight domestic violence

A new national organisation has been set up to help protect women and children from violence at home.

 

The not-for-profit foundation will be based in Melbourne, and will support early intervention programs in schools, create targeted social media campaigns and provide funding for research.

 

The Foundation to Prevent Violence against Women and Their Children comes off the back of cooperation between the federal and Victorian state governments.

 

Muriel Bamblett, a founding member of the new foundation, told Darren Mara, one of its aims will combating violence in Indigenous families.
