New home sales continue to rise

New home sales are continuing to rise, growing 2.2 per cent in November.

Australians are continuing to snap up new homes, suggesting home building will remain a shining light of the economy into 2015.

New home sales grew 2.2 per cent in November, seasonally adjusted, according to the latest Housing Industry Association new home sales report on Thursday.

HIA chief economist Harley Dale said sales of multi-units surged in October and November last year, reaching their highest level since September 2003, with growth expected to persist into 2015.
