New light on Qld boy's suspected murder

A recent appeal for public help has shed new light on the life of a boy police suspect was murdered on the Gold Coast five years ago.

Police hope to solve the suspected murder of a young boy on the Gold Coast after a public appeal turned up new details about his life.

Four-year-old Tyrell Cobb died in hospital from unspecified injuries after being found unconscious at a Biggera Waters home in May 2009.

Police say the recent appeal has helped piece together what was going on in the boy's life before he died.

"It has given us a clearer picture of what was going on in Tyrell's life around that time, and that's obviously made our task of conducting this investigation a lot more thorough," Detective Inspector Mark White has told ABC radio.

A murder charge against a 26-year-old man was withdrawn in 2010.

Earlier this year detectives began a comprehensive review of the case, and the public appeal was part of that effort.
