New rights role for former judge Michael Kirby

Former High Court justice Michael Kirby has become the vice-chairman of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute.

Michael Kirby is the former head of the UN commission of inquiry on North Korea.

Last October in Tokyo, former High Court justice Michael Kirby was elected to become the next vice-chairman of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute.

He's now moved into the position, the latest in a long line of key appointments and roles for Mr Kirby.

Ron Sutton caught up with him and asked what he hopes to do in this one.
