Hawthorn president Andrew Newbold will remain at the helm of the Hawks until the end of the 2017 AFL season.

Newbold will be elected unopposed to the role, with nominations to lead the premiers closing without an opponent emerging.

By design or coincidence, Newbold has seen Hawthorn play off in the grand final in each of his three years as president winning the 2013 and 2014 premierships.

Hawthorn will ratify the second three-year term at their AGM on December 11.
