Newcastle and Norwich were fined and warned about their future conduct on Friday after a mass brawl marred their recent Premier League clash.
The two clubs were charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from provocative behaviour in the 82nd minute of a goalless draw at Carrow Road.
The ugly incident was sparked when Newcastle's French striker Loic Remy and Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson clashed off the ball.
Johnson kicked out at Remy and the Newcastle star responded with a headbutt.
That prompted a bout of shoving by other players from both teams before referee Chris Foy sent off Johnson and Remy.
Both clubs appealed against the dismissals, but while Johnson's claim was upheld, Remy's was rejected and he will serve the second leg of his three-game ban at Chelsea on Saturday.
An FA statement said: "Newcastle admitted the charge and accepted the standard penalty of STG20,000 ($A36,636.75), which includes a third off for admitting.
"Norwich, who had a similar breach earlier this season, denied the charge, which was subsequently found proven, and were fined 30,000.
