Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten says Tony Abbott and Campbell Newman are a double-act working together against Queenslanders.

Mr Shorten officially launched Queensland Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk's state election campaign on Tuesday by taking aim at the prime minister and premier.

He claimed Mr Abbott and Mr Newman are working hand in hand to sack nurses, teachers and other public sector workers and to weaken the state economy.

Mr Shorten said Queenslanders had woken up to their plans and that's why the prime minister might not show his face during the election campaign.

"They are still a double act, they're still working together," he said amid wild cheers.

Mr Shorten said Mr Newman, like Mr Abbott, could not be trusted to deliver his promises and he also criticised the Liberal National Party's asset leasing plan.

He said Mr Newman's $1.5 billion in election promises, based on funding dependent on asset sales that are not guaranteed, was irresponsible.

"That's not a policy, that's an ad on Gumtree," Mr Shorten said.

The federal opposition leader also urged Labor supporters not to be complacent despite polls showing the party will gain a huge swing at the polls on January 31.

"Don't stop now," he told the crowd. "You've got 11 days to go - every conversation, every doorknock, every telephone call - and you can help change the government of Queensland, you can help make Queensland a great destination again."

The launch felt more energetic, like a concert or US presidential campaign, than the dull Liberal National Party launch on Sunday.

Brisbane singer-songwriter Ellen Reed performed a rendition of the national anthem and the popular Ben Lee single We're All In This Together.

Former premier Peter Beattie, his wife Heather and Roisin Goss, the widow of recently deceased premier Wayne Goss, also attended.
