Former Richmond skipper Chris Newman is still to make a call on his playing future beyond this AFL season.
The 33-year-old, who has played 258 games for the Tigers since his 2002 debut, said he would wait and see how the season played out before making any decisions.
"I'm not sure yet," Newman said ahead of training on Tuesday.
"I'd have to be playing some pretty good football to go on again, but I'm not thinking about it too much."
The 33-year-old defender missed six games with a groin injury earlier in the year, but said he was now playing pain free.
"I haven't felt any groin pain for a couple of weeks now.
"It was very niggly for the first part of the season and to play pain free is a real bonus," Newman said.
Newman and his Tigers teammates welcomed superstar Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to their training run.
Newton, who recently signed a $US118-million contract, has been at Richmond's AFL headquarters as part of a Gatorade athlete exchange program.
He went to Richmond's game against GWS at the MCG.
A big NFL fan, Newman said Newton had spoken to the Tigers about leadership.
"He spoke to the leadership group about his experiences and it's been an eye-opener for us and something we've learned a lot out of.
"His presence and the way he speaks and his demands of others is something we could take something out of," Newman said.
Newton took part in some of the training drills at Punt Road Oval but struggled with the kicking component.
Newman said it was amusing to see such an impressive athlete battling with some simple AFL skills.
"It's great to see someone so cool struggle with a sport.
"We have a little cheeky smile when he gets the ball in his hand."
