Big-spending promises won't save Campbell Newman's scalp in Ashgrove, the latest opinion poll suggests.
The ReachTEL poll, commissioned by Seven News, has revealed the Queensland premier has fallen further behind Labor rival Kate Jones in the Brisbane electorate.
It found only 42.3 per cent of Ashgrove residents intended to give the premier their first preference - a decline from two weeks ago, when 43.7 per cent said they would.
Meanwhile, 46.5 per cent put the ALP's Kate Jones as their first choice.
Mr Newman's two-party preferred vote has dropped to 46 per cent - down one point from two weeks ago.
Ms Jones is out in front by that measure, too, on 54 per cent.
The poll comes after the premier pledged about $10.5 million in infrastructure upgrades to residents of his affluent electorate.
But such pork-barrelling does not appear to have distracted Ashgrove residents from finding flaw with the premier.
Mr Newman's leadership style was the main turn-off for voters (23.9 per cent) in his own electorate, the poll found.
This was closely followed by disappointment about his performance as premier and plans to lease state assets.
That said, 45.2 per cent said they thought Mr Newman had done a "good" or "very good" job as their local member.
Ms Jones earned a generally positive review, with more than half of residents saying they had a favourable opinion of the former Bligh government minister.
The poll surveyed 861 Ashgrove residents on Wednesday night.
Queenslanders head to the polls on Saturday.
