Newspoll shows easy win for NSW coalition

The NSW government is set for an easy election victory, with the latest Newspoll showing the coalition leading Labor by 55 per cent to 45 per cent on a two-party-preferred basis.

If the swing were uniform in Saturday's vote the government would lose 17 seats.

The Newspoll for News Corp Australia shows Labor's primary vote has slipped from 36 per cent to 34 per cent, while the government's has risen one point to 44 per cent.

Mr Baird remains the most popular leader in the country, with an approval rating of 57, down two points, and a dissatisfaction rating of 29, up three points.

Labor leader Luke Foley's dissatisfaction rating has risen from 31 to 37 but his satisfaction rating has improved from 36 to 38.

The latest Seven Network ReachTEL survey also puts the coalition in front, leading Labor 54 per cent to 46 per cent on a two-party-preferred basis.

The government's primary vote climbed 0.4 per cent to 36.4 per cent, while Labor dropped one percentage point to 33.8 per cent.

Despite this result, electricity privatisation was still a contentious issue, with 49 per cent opposing the plans. Meanwhile 28.8 per cent supported it and 22.2 per cent were undecided.

It was also the most influential issue when deciding who to vote for, followed by environment, health and the economy.
