Next steps to a national energy policy

The Energy Security Board has set out a series of steps to finalising the National Energy Guarantee, to push down power prices and reduce emissions.

August 6: Publish policy documents

August 10: COAG Energy Council meeting

Mid-August: Exposure draft legislation

Late September: COAG Energy Council approvals final legislation

Nov-Dec: Legislation considered by South Australian parliament (required before adopted by other states)

April 2019: Package of rules agreed by COAG Energy Council
