Nick Cave, John Butler head APRA shortlist

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Boy and Bear and Birds of Tokyo have been included on the shortlist for this year's APRA Song of the Year.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, John Butler Trio, Boy and Bear and Birds of Tokyo head the shortlist for this year's APRA Song of the Year.

APRA on Tuesday revealed the top 20 songs up for the peer voted title to be presented at its annual Music Awards in June.

The awards recognise and celebrate the success of songwriters, composers and publishers in all genres and are voted for by APRA AMCOS members.

The nominees for all APRA award categories will be announced on May 29.

The awards will be presented at Brisbane Town Hall on June 23.
