The accused, 22, didn't apply for bail, which was formally refused, or come up from the cells when his matter was mentioned at Fairfield Local Court today.

He's been charged with murder and aggravated sexual assault, two months after the body of Mr Hrouk, 16, was found at a Fairfield East property a few blocks from the Hrouk family home.

Uniformed officers intervened outside the court as bearded men wearing hoods swore at the media, damaged camera equipment and hurled one reporter's microphone at a parked car.
