No bail for man in Gold Coast siege drama

A Queensland man who allegedly held his teenage son hostage at knifepoint for almost 14 hours has been refused bail.

A Gold Coast father who allegedly held his son hostage for almost 14 hours has been refused bail.

The 42-year-old was arrested on Tuesday night after emergency response police stormed his Currumbin unit.

His 16-year-old son was found uninjured inside.

The man allegedly wielded a knife inside the unit while keeping police at bay from 7am to 8.30pm.

He appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with three counts of serious assault to police, possessing dangerous drugs and other drug offences.

The prisoner was denied bail and his case adjourned to July 4.
