No bail over Gold Coast ice seizure

An alleged bikie associate has been denied bail in court after police seized over half a million dollars of drugs the Gold Coast on the weekend.

An alleged bikie associate will spend Christmas behind bars after police seized over half a million dollars of drugs in a weekend raid on the Gold Coast.

Justin McLellan, 32, was denied bail on several drug charges at Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

McLellan is facing a total of 19 charges including supplying a dangerous drug, producing a dangerous drug and possessing the proceeds of crime.

He was one of two men arrested after police allegedly discovered a haul of ice, cocaine and ecstasy from a home in the southern Gold Coast suburb of Varsity Lakes on Sunday afternoon.

The pair are alleged to have links to the Black Uhlans motorcycle gang.

Officers from the Rapid Action Patrol Group stormed the home following a joint operation with NSW police.

It's alleged over 300g of ice worth $300,000, 200g of cocaine worth $200,000 and over 2500 ecstasy pills worth an estimated $62,500 were discovered during the raids.

Police claim the ice had been hidden in a void in the kitchen, while the cocaine and ecstasy were in a box in the garage.

A quantity of speed was allegedly located in McLellan's bedroom.

The matter has been adjourned and will return to court on March 10.

McLellan's lawyer Chris Hannay argued the period of time his client would be forced to spend in custody was too long and there was no reason to deny bail.

Magistrate Brian Kilmartin disagreed, saying the large amounts of drugs involved and the seriousness of the charges led him to deny the bail application.

The other man, 41, did not face court on Monday.
