Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield isn't worried an errant knee to St Kilda opponent Jarryn Geary's head could cost him a chance at winning the Brownlow Medal.
Dangerfield's stellar AFL season has installed him as the red-hot favourite to take out the game's highest individual honour.
The prolific onballer scuffled with Geary in the third quarter of Saturday night's upset loss to the Saints at Etihad Stadium, with his right knee making glancing contact with the Saint's head as he broke free.
But Dangerfield isn't concerned the incident might attract a ban from the AFL's match review panel, ruling him ineligible to win the Brownlow.
"From my perspective it is (a beat-up) ... it's hard to get up when someone's grabbing your leg," Dangerfield told the Nine Network's Sunday Footy Show.
"From my perspective the contact was very much insufficient (to warrant a report).
"You understand there's a lot of scrutiny in the game no matter what happens ... I'm not worried about it simply because I don't think there's anything in it at all."
The Cats were knocked from the top of the AFL ladder with the shock three-point loss.
Geelong attracted criticism after Dangerfield and potential game-breaker Steven Motlop were stuck on the interchange bench as the frantic final minutes played out.
But Dangerfield said it couldn't be helped.
"When Steven and I came to the bench it was the right time to come off. I think there were about seven or eight minutes to go," he said.
"But the game is played on an oval and at the time it was being played on the other side of the ground for about three minutes.
"So it's just one of those things that happens during a game. With the way rotations are ... you're not helping your team if you're out there and you can't run."
