Chaz Bono has squashed rumours his mother Cher might be making a surprise visit to Sydney to join him for Mardi Gras.
Speculation the 67-year-old singer would make an appearance alongside her transgender son has been fuelled by the festival's Cher the Love tribute to her 1989 hit If I Could Turn Back Time.
Cher's endorsement of the clip via Twitter was also seen as a possible clue she is a special guest at the festival.
"WHAT COULD BE MORE FABULOUS THAN A CHER-OFF ... YOU HAVE MY BLESSING !! RIP IT UP AUSSIE BOYS ... @SydneyMardiGras," she tweeted.
But 44-year-old Chaz, who is in Sydney to speak about his gender transition at the festival, says his mum is at home in the United States getting ready to go on tour.
When asked if there was any chance Cher would make a surprise visit, Bono told AAP there was "none whatsoever".
"She's getting ready to go on tour in March - she's in rehearsals and working hard," he said on Tuesday.
