No clubs, no worries for golfer Green

Australian golfer Brendan Jones is keeping things positive despite a luggage mix-up meaning his clubs are yet to join him for a tournament in Fiji.

Australian golfer Brendan Jones is all set for this week's Fiji International - all he needs is some clubs.

The 39-year-old arrived in the Pacific Island nation on Monday ahead of Thursday's tee-off in the $US1 million ($A1.08 million) event.

Unfortunately, Jones's clubs didn't make the journey with him.

A luggage mix-up meant they stayed in Australia, hampering the NSW player's build-up to the event.

"I had planned to get out and play 18 today, 18 tomorrow, only for the fact that I've played so little golf," Jones said, after a wrist injury limited him to just three tournaments so far this year.

"My luggage hasn't turned up so I'm here in the same clothes I travelled in yesterday.

"Once the tournament kicks off, I've played so many tournaments that everything sort of kicks into gear."

Despite the hiccup, Jones made the most of his early arrival to scope out the Natadola Bay Championship course, which was designed by Fijian golf legend Vijay Singh.

"Today's a good thing for me, watching shots go into greens, watching what the guys are hitting off tees, so I have some sort of idea of how I want to play it," added Jones.

"Tomorrow in the pro-am. I'm going to have a much better feel and I think, by Thursday, I'll be ready to go."

A 13-time winner on the Japan Tour, Jones says just getting back to regular golf after his injury woes is enough to keep a smile on his face.

"It's been a long time since I've enjoyed my golf so I've got that in my favour," he said.

"The bad shots I hit last year before the injury were really getting to me ... it's just fun to be back on tour and that's one thing I have missed."
