Ticket scalpers can be the bane of music lovers' existence, especially at summer festival time, but a parliamentary inquiry into the problem hasn't received a single submission.

The Senate decided in early December to look into the prevalence of ticket scalping in Australia and its impact on prices.

Its economics committee is also looking at how effective state consumer protections are at stoping scalping and any issues of illegality including the prevalence of counterfeit tickets.

Submissions to the inquiry close on Monday but to date none have come in.

People wanting to comment on ticket scalping can upload a submission via the senate economics committee's page on the Australian Parliament House website.
