No Kyrgios contact with out-of-sorts Tomic

Previously considered good mates, Nick Kyrgios says he has no idea what's happening with struggling Australian world No.44 Bernard Tomic.

Nick Kyrgios says he hasn't spoken with Bernard Tomic about his tennis struggles as doubles great Todd Woodbridge warns the Queenslander may soon drop out of the top 100 unless he rediscovers his motivation.

An unavailable Tomic remains absent from Australia's Davis Cup side which this eek meets the United States in a quarter-final in Brisbane, and has plummeted to No.44 in the world.

The 24-year-old has not won a match since the Australian Open, crashing out of four ATP tournaments in the first round.

Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt said Tomic would not be considered until he was back in the "right head space" to represent his country.

Asked if he had been in touch with Tomic recently or had any idea how he was travelling, Kyrgios delivered a flat, one-word answer: "No."

The pair are thought to be good friends but appear to have have gone on wildly divergent paths this year.

Kyrgios is being talked about as a genuine grand slam contender this year after a sensational run of form over the last two months, which included two wins over Novak Djokovic in the space of a fortnight.

Tomic, meanwhile, has dropped off the radar - and Todd Woodbridge said it was time he did some "soul-searching" before it was too late.

Woodbridge, a 22-time grand slam doubles winner, predicted Tomic's ranking would continue to slide during the looming clay court season.

"It's never going to be a surface he'll do well on," Woodbridge told EON Sports Radio.

"He may not end up winning a match until June and by then, if he doesn't perform well at Wimbledon, his ranking's going to be outside of 100.

"He'll be struggling to get into grand slams, he's already not going to be in Masters events now.

"When we've watched him play he's struggled to motivate himself to be competitive. There's only one person who can turn this around, and that's Bernard."
