Any Tasmanian greyhound trainers who were live baiting their dogs would immediately be dobbed in, an industry expert has told a Tasmanian inquiry.
Boasting more than four decades as a greyhound owner and breeder, June Phillips on Wednesday gave evidence to a parliamentary committee probing greyhound racing.
"The first time (a perpetrator) beat them, they would expose them," Ms Phillips said in support of her argument that live baiting does not occur on the island state.
"I can honestly say that I have never heard of anyone, or done it, or known of anyone who has had a live bait.
"It's horrific. There's no place for it."
The committee on Tuesday heard from animal welfare experts that it would be naive to think live baiting is not happening in Tasmania.
The committee was formed after the ABC's 4Corners program aired vision in February of greyhounds being trained with live baits, including possums and piglets, which were tied to the lure, chased and mauled.
Since the footage was aired, Ms Phillips said industry participants have faced harassment.
"I've been spat on while walking (a Greyhound)," Ms Phillips said.
There is also a case in which a greyhound breeder's property was attacked, with puppies' legs broken and water tanks opened.
The hearing continues.
