Michael Ennis is yet to win a game at Cronulla, but the veteran playmaker says he has no regrets about moving to the NRL club.
The Sharks are the only team to have lost all four opening rounds this year and are anchored at the bottom of the ladder.
Ennis spent six seasons at Canterbury before joining the 2014 wooden spooners on a two-year deal.
Asked whether he harboured any regret about the switch, the 31-year-old said "not at all".
"It's obviously not ideal where we are at the moment - I certainly didn't think we'd be where we are - but it's a tough competition," he said on Wednesday.
"The only way out of it is to work hard.
"We've got a real good football team here, and we just need to start to execute what's required from us."
The task doesn't get any easier for the Sharks, who face the league's top three teams over the next three weeks - starting with the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Ennis said playing arguably the competition's form team presents a good opportunity for his side to build some confidence and momentum.
"At the moment, to be honest, we're probably putting in a 55 to 60-minute performance of good footy and the rest we're just conceding some tries," the hooker said.
"We're just allowing sides too many points and it's hard to get a win to do that."
Coach Shane Flanagan has made a number of changes for the match, with youngster Jack Bird to start at five-eighth in Ben Barba's absence (suspension) and Andrew Fifita to the bench.
Ennis believes dropping Fifita is nothing more than a strategic move against a well-balanced squad.
"He carries the football so well and he's damaging, and obviously Shane's looking for a bit of impact," he said.
