Shellshocked Australia have little time to regroup from their six-wicket hiding by South Africa ahead of game two of the one-day series on Sunday.
The Proteas took a 1-0 lead in the five-match campaign on Friday with a dominant performance at Centurion's SuperSports Park, Quinton de Kock's 178 off 113 deliveries leaving Australia's weakened bowling line-up with nowhere to hide.
Less than 48 hours later the tourists will be looking to bounce back as the series moves to the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Captain Steve Smith admits if his bowlers can't learn the brutal lessons handed out to them by de Kock, another tough match awaits.
"We've got to try and turn that around quickly or we're going to see another display like that on Sunday," Smith said.
Smith hasn't ruled out making changes to the team for Sunday's clash despite his options being limited.
Uncapped duo Joe Mennie and Chris Tremain are the other bowlers in Smith's arsenal.
Smith says all of the squad will feature at some point in the series, whether changes are made for Sunday or not.
"We've got a chance to see some guys and see how they react to pressure situations like that out there," he said.
"It's a good learning curve for them and hopefully our quicks can take a lot away from what happened (on Friday)."
Smith is also challenging his batsmen to follow de Kock's example, saying the number of players who got starts on Friday but failed to turn it into a big score had also been a significant factor in the defeat.
"We got a nice wicket to bat on and we gave some opportunities away," he said.
"It's the responsibility of one of our top four to post a big total and if we do that, the team total's going to be big as well."
The Proteas may also make changes to their line-up with opener Hashim Amla likely to have recovered from the illness which sidelined him from game one.
