The search continues for a man who went missing in the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga after going for a dip to cool down on Sunday night.
The 28-year-old local man was with his partner and some children when he went for a swim but did not resurface around 8.45pm, with his partner raising the alarm.
Local police and a NSW Ambulance Swift Water Rescue team, assisted by the Volunteer Rescue Association and the SES, searched the river and riverbank until 11pm and resumed again at first light on Monday with the assistance of the police dive unit.
Acting Inspector Maggie Deall from Wagga Wagga Police said the Murrumbidgee would likely be closed to boats while the search was underway, requesting swimmers to also stay clear of the area.
"It is going to be a very hot day, so I understand that people are going to want to be around the river," Ms Deall told reporters on Monday.
"I'd ask them to stay out of the area that we're searching."
"The likelihood is that the river will be closed to boats from Wagga Beach onwards and we'll look at what we'll do in terms of swimmers later in the day."
The Bureau of Meteorology says temperatures in Wagga will hit 40 degrees on Monday.
It's believed the man had consumed a couple of alcoholic drinks, but police said not enough that he wouldn't be able to look after himself in the river, the ABC reported.
