No sign of missing Wagga Wagga swimmer

There's been no sign of a 28-year-old father-of-five who went missing while swimming in the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga on Sunday night.

A search will continue for a 28-year-old father-of-five who went missing in the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga after going for a dip to cool down on Sunday night.

The man who was with his partner and five children went for a swim at the river's beach on Sunday night but failed to resurface, the town's local paper reports.

A NSW Ambulance Swift Water Rescue team, police divers and uniformed officers, and SES and Volunteer Rescue Association personnel searched until 11pm and all day Monday.

The effort will resume on Tuesday.

SES deputy local controller Brett Porter said searches had been carried out on both sides of the river bank but nothing had been found.

It's believed the man had consumed a couple of alcoholic drinks but police said not enough that he wouldn't be able to look after himself in the river, the ABC reported.
