Police have given Melbourne's CBD the all clear after a bomb scare shut down a city block.

No threat has been found after a bomb scare in Melbourne's CBD, police say.

Elizabeth Street, between La Trobe and Little Lonsdale streets, was blocked off while the bomb response unit was called to investigate.

Police said the area had been given the all-clear and no threat was found.
