Corey Norman will have plenty to prove to St George Illawarra fans after finally completing his move to the club from NRL rivals Parramatta on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old playmaker has secured a three-year deal with the Dragons, starting immediately, after being released the final year of his contract with Parramatta.

He is set to reunite with Ben Hunt in the halves for the Dragons, having played alongside him at times during his 106-game stint with Brisbane from 2010-13 before his switch to Parramatta.

The arrival of Norman, after 106 NRL games and five seasons for the Eels, is expected to result in club captain Gareth Widdop being shifted to fullback.

The expected reshuffle of the Dragons' "spine" leaves a question mark over last season's fullback Matt Dufty.

But coach Paul McGregor could switch the diminutive speedster to the wing, having lost Nene MacDonald to North Queensland.

Dragons fans will keenly watch the talented Norman's progress as he is coming off a disappointing season for the last-placed Eels in 2018 and has been dogged by off-field controversy at times in his career.

"It's a big day for myself and my family. There are some exciting times ahead," Norman told dragons.com.au.

"The Dragons squad at the moment is really good and coming off a good year so I'm really looking forward to playing with the boys and spending plenty of good seasons here."

Norman reportedly accepted a $250,000 payout from the Eels, with the Dragons to pay $500,000 of his 2019 salary and then pay him about $1.6 million in the following two seasons.
